Sunday School

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

The mind of a young child is pure, devoid of any negative perceptions. However this changes as the environment where the child grows up and the values the child is subjected to determines and shapes the outlook of the child.

In this present times most children, young as they are, are being exposed to games, stories, TV programs laced with violence, social promiscuity and compromised values. Like it or not their vulnerable mind which is like a sponge soaks in all these. To add on to this, peer pressure and social expectation on personal achievements rest heavy on their young shoulder. It is, therefore, imperative that they are exposed to and be refreshed with wholesome values and love.

SIB Grace Sunday School offers both this. It is an oasis for the children placed in our care; they are precious to us. Here children are being taught God’s love for them. Concerted effort are made to ensure that our children in Sunday School feel secure and being loved by having their physical and emotional needs met by our team of caring teachers and helpers. Christian and godly family values and social skills are also being imparted to them through the lessons and fun time the latter being organised for various special occasions.

Children are a heritage from God (Psalm 127:3) the reward of ensuring proper grounding of God’s Words in their life may only be realised in the future. A young adult who was depressive in his teenage years told his mother that during the dark period of his illness he had wanted to take his own life twice. He told her that “because I remember what I was being taught in Sunday School” stopped him from doing so on both occasions!

Lessons are being conducted at the Upper Room which is opposite the Padungan Pizza Hut. The children would take a bus ride over and will be back at 1.30 p.m. to join their parents for refreshment.

Our Sunday School is expanding. We would need more volunteers to help. The only qualifications required are a love for children and availability. We are especially looking for helpers for the four different age groups i.e. from crèche, juniors, seniors and teens. Periodical training will be made available for teachers and helpers. Be part of our team as a teacher or helper to leave an impact on the life of a child.
